"First of all, this project has had a positive impact on the students of our school. They mobilized and brought recyclable material to school, helped by other family members, grandparents, older brothers and this gained the appreciation and admiration of everyone. The greatest satisfaction I had when one of the girls said she was not interested in the prize, but she was happy to save those trees from being cut."

In 2019, to celebrate 100 years of Romania, our project Un Viitor fara Gunoi Sibiu organised “100 days of recycling, correct separation and collection” of paper and cardboard in 3 schools from Sibiu County. Pupils collected four tonnes of paper and saved approximately 70 trees from being cut.

A video of the project can be viewed here (Romanian version) and here (English version).

With Westminster council: #MyWestminster

Throughout 2019, the reduce and recycle #MyWestminster funded project “A Future without Rubbish”, educated 500-700 Westminster residents about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), waste reduction which resulted in improved recycling rates for Westminster Council and a reduced public space littering.

The A Future without Rubbish project had 100 pupils taking part, through its school assemblies that focused on waste reduction and environmental protection, and its whole class activities and competitions. "I consider innovative the idea to build and develop this project with the help of local resources, Prejmer Town Hall, Gymnasium Prejmer School and SC Hidro-Sal Com SRL and I am convinced that both the Local Council and all Prejmer residents will support this project, it is so beneficial to the local community.”

The launch event hosted talks by the EU commission, the council, Spiderman and performances by the children at the local school in front of at least 250 people: the chorus of the pupils’ self-composed anthem was in English “Hey people! Clear Public Space

The Headteacher Constanta Poplacean quoted Sir Peter Scott at the start of our project “We shan’t save all we should like to – but we shall save a great deal more than if we had never tried.”

"The project has enabled pupils to behave more responsibly and healthier towards the environment in which they live and to learn that recycling can also bring material benefits.  The paper and cardboard collection has made it possible to buy a rack for bicycles for the benefit of all school pupils.”
