As a pre-cursor to the 1st June 2022: some of The Coastline Runner’s endeavours in Norfolk are shown in a short film here.
He has completed running the entire coastline of Norfolk.
He is now embarking on the next local authority – running the coastline of Lincolnshire and collecting shoreline plastic.
After presenting ‘The Norfolk Chapter Report’ to The Mayor of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Councillor Lesley Bambridge, using the local bus to get to Sutton Bridge, The Coastline Runner will run down the River Nene to The Wash, round to Fosdyke and the River Welland where he will end this stretch, number 10.
Aiming to complete the Lincolnshire chapter by 1st July at Donna Hook, he will run an approximate 100km in total, collecting many kgs of tideline plastic. So will really need the Mayor’s encouragement! Here we go.
The Coastline Runner is an initiative that was started by Luke Douglas-Home CEnv, founder of A Future Without Rubbish CICand a Chartered Environmentalist.
It started as a lone man’s mission (here), to overcome frustrations over the lack of efficacy and impact of COP 26 and has turned into a growing initiative with immediate results on reducing plastic pollution of our seas. Luke is aiming to run and swim as much of the English coastline as possible within the first year of the UN’s ‘Decade of Ocean Science’, collecting shoreline plastic.
